If a number decides how much chemical goes in, a careful next step is better than a confident wrong answer.
Your test kit can tell you what the water reads, but it can't tell you how strong the product in your shed is. Liquid chlorine may be 6% available chlorine or 12.75%, and muriatic acid commonly ranges from 15% to 31.45%. The same volume does not mean the same dose from one bottle to the next.

For acid and chlorine specifically — the two steps where concentration controls the dose — we don't give one universal number.
